Gotta agree with this one. Less than 24 hours notice for a major non-emergency downtime isn't acceptable. I find it inconceivable that CCP didn't know before today that this patch would be needed.
While CCP Spitfire's announcement is a bit last minute, the Incursion Features page has been detailing the timing and content of the Incursion 1.6 update since before the release of Incursion 1.5. I know it isn't exactly the place we bitter vets are conditioned to be looking for release notices, but it has been there. Personally, I hope it is a practice that is continued with the staggered expansion release model. That begs the question, why no Incarna page now that there is a release date?

Since the UI is not only our window into New Eden but our hands as well, I share your concerns. I believe it was the corificationÖ of the UI in Dominion that resulted in windows that were aggressively belligerent in their refusal to remember their place. Pinning them seemed to aggravate them even more. If the differences between the Sisi and TQ environments make 100%, spot on, defect free expansions an improbability, imagine the challenge of a major graphics overhaul to a client that has to run on at least four supported operating systems and thousands of different hardware combinations. While I am patient and understanding, I do find the prospect of having to PVE again against the UI so soon, unsettling.

Without knowing exactly what it is that you throw at you hardware, and since you weren't specific about the model of your graphics card, I can only assume Eve's problem has to do with the part I highlighted. Still, if CCP is going to claim to support your hardware, they should support your hardware.
Originally by: Debir Achen Pretty is nice. Gameplay and correctness are way more important. Which is why I'll still happily buy and install 10 year old games in preference to newer A1 titles, and why I wait at least 6-12 months for buying most modern games: when you can't dazzle the customer with your rendering engine and art assets, you actually need to make the game high quality and fun. Trading off robust gameplay for pretty graphics is a fast path to high customer burn.
Quoted for truth! The words of an actual Mac user! If you want good game performance on your Mac, only install 10 year old games!
